1st Day of the 3rd Trimester - Week 28

Today is Week 28 and Day 1 of our third trimester. I can hardly believe that I am 2/3rds of the way through this pregnancy. Sayer has been moving a lot lately and I think that is one thing that I am really going to miss at the end. I love to nudge my belly and feel him kick back.

I also love it when others can feel him moving! My mom loves to sit with her hand on my belly waiting to feel him - it is awesome to see her facial expression when she finally does.

Emma was over the other night and I told her that her cousin was kicking me and she put her hand on my belly and immediately said "I just felt him. He kicked me right there!" (as she showed the palm of her hand to Kelly). It was so cute!

Today I also went back for the 3 hour glucose test. They drew my blood four times during those three hours. OUCH! I should get the results back tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that I do not have gestational diabetes.

Week 27 Dr. Appt

Yesterday we went for our week 27 appt and glucose screening for gestational diabetes. The appt. went well... Sayer's heartbeat is still strong, my belly is still growing and I didn't gain any weight this time. The glucose "cocktail" that I drank, on the other hand, was not very good. I was able to get it down, but it tasted like I was drinking pure syrup.

Today I got a phone call from the nurse telling me that I had not passed the screening, which means I have to go back to the office on Monday for a 3 hour glucose screening. At which time I get to drink more of the glucose "cocktail". They will take my blood every hour and when the results of this test come back I will know if I have gestational diabetes or not.

I am really praying that I don't... with the holidays coming up it will be hard to stay away from the sweets!

Tonight mom, dad, grandpa and I went to Ted's to have dinner at the suggestion of grandpa. I definitely thought that grandpa acted like he felt much better tonight than he has the past couple of months. It's amazing how switching his medications around can make such a huge difference!

I cherish these moments that I get to spend with grandpa. Tonight we talked a lot about Sayer and his arrival. I know that he is so excited to meet his first great-grandchild... and I think he's even more excited that it's going to be a little boy!

Week 26

Now that we are into the double digits from Sayer's arrival (98 days to be exact) I thought that I would start posting belly pics every two weeks. It's amazing to see how much my belly has changed in just two weeks!

Chiefs Game...

Sunday Mike and I went to the Chiefs home opener against the Raiders. It was pretty chilly, but we had an excellent time in the Toshiba box. This is the third year that we have been able to enjoy the game from the box with all you can enjoy food and beverage... if only they had been selling hot cocoa or decaf coffee at the stadium that day all would have been perfect! Well, the Chiefs could have played a little better too...

It's not a hernia...

I went to see Dr. Abney today about the swelling in my groin. She did a thorough exam and found that I did not have any defects or ruptures in my groin, so she ruled out the hernia. She said that more than likely it was Sayer putting pressure on my pelvis, so she suggested that I start to wear a pregnancy belt to alleviate some of the pressure. I have another appointment in two weeks, so she will check it again then, but for now all is well. Thank goodness... I can stop worrying!

Also at today's appointment I heard the heartbeat again, which was very loud and very strong. She measured my belly to confirm that Sayer is still growing - and he is!

I have gained 4 pounds since my last appointment, so I am at a 23 pound weight gain to date. 23 pounds in 25 weeks. Not too shabby!

Painting the Nursery

I am blessed to have such an amazing family!

Most of you who know me know how difficult it is for me to hand tasks off to other people. I am a self starter and a perfectionist and I like to do things on my own. Painting the nursery was not something that I was able to do since I am not suppossed to be around the paint fumes, so I was reliant upon my family to do it for me!

On Sunday, Mimi, Aunt Karen and Aunt KiKi came over to help Mike paint Sayer's nursery. I love the way it turned out... the colors are just what I wanted! I am so thankful and appreciative of their help. Words cannot even begin to express. We will be able to let Sayer know that his nursery was painted with love! Thank you Mimi, Aunt Karen and Aunt KiKi for your help! We love you!

The professional painters came on Tuesday morning to look at the room and hopefully they will be able to finish up the stripes over the next couple of weeks. Once that is done we can start moving the rest of the furniture into the room. I can't wait!

Border War... MU vs. U of I

This past weekend Mike and I, along with Mom and Dad and our friends Jeff and Michelle traveled to St. Louis to watch MU versus U of I kick-off the collegiate football season.

We rolled into St. Louis early Friday evening with our car flags flying high! Our hotel was located on Washington St. just a couple of blocks from the stadium and right in the middle of the action. The atmosphere for the entire weekend was amazing! There was such a buzz in the air and you could see and feel the team spirit everywhere.

Saturday was game day and we geared up for the evening at the Landing in St. Louis. There were street vendors, live music and tailgates everywhere. When we got to the stadium we were happy to find that we had seats on the lower level in the end zone. Although, Mike was not thrilled about the placement since he was right in the middle of Tiger Country! He was lucky enough to have three Illini fans sitting in the row directly behind us.

After an exciting game... and lots of scoring, I am happy to report that my Tigers beat the Illini! We are definitely going to try to make this a yearly event... although next year Sayer will probably stay at home with Mimi!

Week 24

It is hard to believe that another 4 weeks have passed and it is time to post another belly picture. We are now at week 24 and I have to say the past several weeks have been extremely exciting.

I have been feeling Sayer move for awhile now and finally last night Mike was able to feel him too. I have been waiting for the day when Mike would be able to share in the excitement of being able to feel him move and finally that day arrived!

We were getting ready for bed and Sayer was really kicking, so I told Mike to put his hand on my belly. It only took a minute for Mike to say "Are you flexing your stomach?" I just laughed and said, "No, that's your son kicking!" He was in amazement.

Tonight after dinner we were sitting on the couch and I lifted my shirt so we could look at my belly and sure enough you could see my belly move as Sayer kicked and moved. It was awesome to actually see the movement from the outside!

I sit here in utter amazement as I type this just thinking about this little person in my belly moving, growing and developing. Mike and I already love this little boy more than words could ever express and we cannot wait to welcome him into this world and hold him in our arms. I can only imagine what that first instant of seeing our baby is going to be like!

Thank God for Miracles!
