Sayer and Emma Grace

Today Emma Grace came over after school for a couple of hours. We had a ton of fun while she was here!

She helped me dress Sayer for a walk, then she, Ummie Mike, Sayer, Gussie and I took a stroll through the neighborhood. Emma walked Gus so she could "get practice" for when she has a dog one day. She did a GREAT job of yelling at him everytime he walked in a neighbors yard. Sayer really seemed to enjoy being strapped to daddy and getting a different perspective. Usually for our walks he is in the stroller, so this was a different view of the world!

When we got home Emma helped me feed Sayer... well kind of. She did a better job distracting him than feeding him!

Cereal Time!

Sunday Sayer tried rice cereal with a spoon for the first time. He's been getting it in his bottle for a couple of months, but because of his weight, our doctor suggested we try cutting out one bottle and replacing it with a serving of cereal.

I was surprised at how fast he seemed to catch on. Now don't get me wrong, there was plenty of cereal on his clothes, his bib, mommy's arm and the table, but overall he did a pretty good job of getting most of it in his mouth. And best of all he really seemed to like it.

Good job little buddy!

Dear Grammy and Papa

I just love my new computer. It keeps me entertained for a long time. It teaches me shapes and songs and the red lights keep my attention. I am going to be the smartest baby on the block! Thank you and I love you!

Random Pics of Sayer

Since I haven't posted in so long, here are just a few I thought you might like!

I'm back...

after almost a months hiatus...

life is just too busy sometimes!

Buddha Baby... Seriously!

Today Sayer went for his 4 month baby well visit. I am happy to report that my son is officially a Buddha Baby! He weighs 20.6 lbs. and is off the growth charts. He is 26 inches tall which is the 75% for height and his head measures 17 1/4 inches which is also in the 75%. This boy is growing... and fast.

Our doctor said that his measurements are what that of a 9 month old would be, but of course I already knew that because he is consistently in 9-12 month clothes.

We are going to start him on spoon fed rice cereal to see if we can curb his appetite somewhat and we are also going to decrease his bottle intake to only 32 oz. per day.

The good news is the Zantac that he put Sayer on for acid reflux seems to be helping. It definitely has stopped the blood curdling screams, the arching back and pulling of his knees to his chest.

Now if we can just get him to sleep longer through the night and take naps during the day, we'd be all set!

Teething?

Sayer has been chewing on his fist for a couple of months now. He has recently begun gnawing on any finger that comes close to his mouth. We have a couple of teething rings that we try to let him chew on, but he seems to prefer a finger! Silly boy!

I do feel a rough spot on his bottom gum... it could be a tooth popping through!

Uncle J is here!

Uncle J came into town for a few days this past week. Sayer spent a lot of time hanging out with him... playing
... and hanging out in bed

Cancer...

Two Thursdays ago Aunt Karen was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. What a blow! So far we had been one of the few families not directly impacted by cancer.

Friday she underwent surgery to have a double mastectomy. She came home from the hospital on Sunday and is staying with mom and dad as she recuperates.

We received good news today when we went to the doctor's office to have her drains removed... the cancer had not spread to her lymph nodes. Thank God!

We have an appt. on May 1 with an oncologist at KU Cancer Center that specializes in breast cancer. We will find out then what course of treatment will be recommended. Her surgeon said that they treat some patients with this kind of breast cancer with chemo and others don't have to have it. We will just wait and see what this doctor has to say and we'll go from there.

Whatever we are told, we will move forward just as we have with this. We are taking it one day and one challenge at a time.

I have one amazing aunt. I have always looked up to her, but now I do even more so. She is still the one who is more worried about everyone else than she is worried about herself. She is strong, determined and tough and will make it through this! We are blessed to have an amazing family... with that anything can be conquered!

I love you Aunt Karen! Please pray for her recovery!

My Buddy...

Sayer loves hangin' out with his big buddy... Mikey Mo!

Grammy and Papa are Here!

Grammy and Papa came to visit last week. Mike and I were so excited for them to see Sayer in person since they hadn't seen him for over 2 months. We just knew that they wouldn't believe how much he had grown - we were right! We told Grammy before she came that she would have to sit down to hold Sayer because he was so heavy. She finally believed us when she held him for the first time!
Sayer was sure happy to have his Grammy and Papa here for a few days. They looked at houses while they were here, so hopefully they will be moving sometime in the next few months!

I love you and miss you Grammy and Papa!

Happy Easter! Sayer's Baptism

Sayer had quite the eventful Easter!

The Easter Bunny visited our house and delivered a basket full of toys! Sayer got rubber blocks, a rattle that plays music and a ball popper. The Easter Bunny even brought Daddy some RainBlo gum and Mommy some Reeses Peanut Butter Cups! In all, Sayer got four Easter baskets! He got lots of toys, stuffed animals, books, clothes, diapers and baby food!

Sayer also got baptised on Easter Sunday and Daddy joined the church! We were lucky to have almost our entire family there to witness this blessed event! Mimi, Grandpa, Grammy, Papa, Aunt Stacy, Uncle Ed, Will, Lily, Aunt KiKi, Uncle Michael, Emma Grace, Aunt Karen, Aunt Missy, Uncle Herb, Kole and JoDe watched as Sayer was baptised by Pastor Bob. It was such a special moment for Mommy and Daddy to watch Sayer get baptised and to listen to the entire congregation pledge to look after Sayer as he grows up in the United Methodist Church - the same church where his Mommy was baptised 32 years ago.

We were so proud of Sayer for being such a good boy during the church service and baptism! We love you little buddy!

After church, everyone came back to our house for Easter dinner and an Easter Egg hunt! The weather was a little dismal, so we had to have the hunt inside the house. The kiddos really didn't care where we had it... as long as we had it! Sayer sat on my lap as I stuffed the eggs for the kiddos and watched on Aunt Missy's lap as they hunted for them! Next year he'll have such a fun time participating!
