MIZZOU-RAH!

It only took mom to look at our blog tonight to make a trip to our house with some MU gear that she had picked up for the baby. She didn't want MU to be shown up by UofI, so she brought over a teddy bear, a MU onesie and some MU baby booties. Too cute - Thanks mom!

Week 16

Well it's Week 16 and time again for another belly pic. I can hardly believe that another 4 weeks have passed. A lot of my friends have given me the advise to enjoy every moment of my pregnancy because it will fly by fast. I definitely believe them now!



I still don't have a large baby bump, but there is definitely a bump. Some clothes make it more obvious than others... and Mike can certainly tell in whatever it is that I am wearing. He loves to rub my belly and talk to the baby any chance that he gets. I love it!


We haven't bought a lot for the baby yet, but we have received a couple of gifts that Mike absolutely loves! Grammy and Papa gave us a pair of Illinois booties for the baby and Aunt Stacy gave us an Illinois binkie. Uncle Jason - you're going to have to come through for me on the MU gear... we can't have this baby only wearing Illinois!

Mike and I did do a little shopping at Marshmallow Kisses this weekend. Mike picked out a baby onesie that we both thought was pretty funny and daddy picked out a diaper bag for himself. It is fun to shop... and I think this little one might be a tiny bit spoiled when it's all said and done!

Fun in the Fountain at Zona Rosa

Sunday was EXTREMELY hot in Kansas City! We took the kids to Zona Rosa so they could splash around in the fountains. They had a fabulous time - and so did we just watching them from the shade!

Celebrating the 4th!

Friday, July 4th was a day filled with family, friends, fun and food! Kent and Nedra came into town to celebrate Ed's 50 birthday, so we decided to have the entire family over for a cookout Friday night.

The McMillians, Jeff and Michelle and Chad, Jonalee and Slayton joined us along with Clayton, Nikki, Hunter and Hayden (who were visting the Searceys) for the weekend. It was so much fun to see everyone!

Mike, Clayton, Jeff and Chad played a few games of washers - and grandpa enjoyed watching from the deck.

Hunter is the same age as the kids, so they all had a great time running around and playing in the backyard and snuggling on the blankets in the driveway as we watched the fireworks that were shot off at the high school. We thought we would have a pretty good view from our driveway, but it turned out there were a few trees in the way! Oh well... we'll know better next year!

Doctors Appt. - 15 weeks

Today Mike and I had another doctors appt. Dr. Abney checked my blood pressure, weight and the baby's heartbeat. Everything looked good. To date, I have gained 5 pounds, which is right on target. She wants me to gain between 25-30 pounds total.

She asked if I had felt the baby move yet (which I haven't), and said that most women begin feeling movement between 15 and 20 weeks. So, sometime between now and our next appt., which is July 30, I should feel this little guy moving! I can't wait to experience that!

Speaking of little guy, our next appt. is with an ultrasound so hopefully we will be able to confirm that this is a little boy that I am carrying. Either way, boy or girl, we just pray for a healthy baby. If God blesses us with that, we will be happy!

Practicing Parenting...

Wednesday night Mike and I watched Slayton so Chad and Jonalee could have a date night! We hadn't seen him for a couple of weeks, so to see how much he has grown in such a short time is just amazing!

He is such a cute little boy! Mike and I loved holding him and watching his facial expressions as he slept and dreamed. He was so good... he slept almost the entire night! We joked that it's always that easy, right?

We cannot wait until December to have a little one of our own to hold. Until then, Slayton is the closest thing that we have to our own. We love that little boy and will gladly watch him anytime Chad and Jonalee want us to! I can't wait for our little ones to grow up together - how fun!

Roayls Game - (Flavor Ice for Life!)

Last Saturday Jason, Dad, Mike and I went to the Royals game. I hadn't been to the ballpark for a few years to see a game, so I was glad that Jason wanted to go while he was home. We had a fabulous time! Some - more than others.

We tailgated prior to the game and cooked shrimp appetizers and brats! We had such a good time... except for when the guy next to us left the stadium in a hurry and ran into our grill with his car. Thankfully we didn't have any meat on yet and dad had brought gloves along so we were able to pick up the hot coals. The food was fabulous and was a lot cheaper than what they were selling inside!

It was Alex Gordon bobblehead night that night at the park and each of us got a bobblehead - (I sent mine back to TN with Jason to give to J.D.) Not sure that they looked a whole lot like Alex Gordon - they were kind of generic looking!
