Royal's Game

Last Friday night, while Jason was in town, we went to the Royal's game! Even though the Royal's played horribly that night, we had a great time tailgating before the game and enjoyed seeing the renovations at the stadium. This was the first game that most of us had seen the new ballpark. It is amazing!

Dave and Busters

On Sunday Mike and I went to NFM to get a patio umbrella and while we were there we decided to head over to Dave and Busters to partake in a few games... yes we are both kids at heart.

We played several games, but one of the most fun games that we played was was a virtual bowling game. It didn't look like it would be tough, but boy did my arms get a workout! It was hard rolling that ball...

Of the games that we played Mike ended up being the overall winner...

• Pop a Shot - First game Mike killed me - Second game I lost by 1 basket
• Racing - Both races I won... shouldn't surprise most of you who know that I put the pedal to the metal

Fun in the Fountain at Zona Rosa

Sunday was EXTREMELY hot in Kansas City! We took the kids to Zona Rosa so they could splash around in the fountains. They had a fabulous time - and so did we just watching them from the shade!

Celebrating the 4th!

Friday, July 4th was a day filled with family, friends, fun and food! Kent and Nedra came into town to celebrate Ed's 50 birthday, so we decided to have the entire family over for a cookout Friday night.

The McMillians, Jeff and Michelle and Chad, Jonalee and Slayton joined us along with Clayton, Nikki, Hunter and Hayden (who were visting the Searceys) for the weekend. It was so much fun to see everyone!

Mike, Clayton, Jeff and Chad played a few games of washers - and grandpa enjoyed watching from the deck.

Hunter is the same age as the kids, so they all had a great time running around and playing in the backyard and snuggling on the blankets in the driveway as we watched the fireworks that were shot off at the high school. We thought we would have a pretty good view from our driveway, but it turned out there were a few trees in the way! Oh well... we'll know better next year!

Roayls Game - (Flavor Ice for Life!)

Last Saturday Jason, Dad, Mike and I went to the Royals game. I hadn't been to the ballpark for a few years to see a game, so I was glad that Jason wanted to go while he was home. We had a fabulous time! Some - more than others.

We tailgated prior to the game and cooked shrimp appetizers and brats! We had such a good time... except for when the guy next to us left the stadium in a hurry and ran into our grill with his car. Thankfully we didn't have any meat on yet and dad had brought gloves along so we were able to pick up the hot coals. The food was fabulous and was a lot cheaper than what they were selling inside!

It was Alex Gordon bobblehead night that night at the park and each of us got a bobblehead - (I sent mine back to TN with Jason to give to J.D.) Not sure that they looked a whole lot like Alex Gordon - they were kind of generic looking!

Weekend Visit with Jason

Jason came into town last weekend for a short visit with Grandpa. He hadn't been home since Christmas and hadn't seen Grandpa since his fall, so he wanted to come home to spend some quality time with him. Grandpa was surprised when Jason arrived and was happy to be able to spend some time catching up with him.

Friday night Jason, Justin, Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Mike and I went to dinner at Ted's Montana Grill. Grandpa had never been there and we weren't sure how he would do having dinner so late (8:00), but he really enjoyed himself! He had such a good time, in fact, that he had a couple of Guiness Beers with his dinner.

It was great to see Jason even if it was for only a few days. I hate it that he lives so far away. I really do miss him being close by. I think it will be hard on him too when our little one arrives in December.

Happy 34th Anniversary / Happy Father's Day!

Sunday was a day filled with celebrations!

Not only was it Father's Day, but it was also my parents 34th Wedding Anniversary. Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! Mike and I treated them to dinner at Bonefish, our favorite restaurant in the Northland! I think we all stuffed ourselves with appetizers, salads, dinner and dessert, but it was well worth it!

We had a great time with great company and plenty of laughs!

Happy Mother's Day

I must admit I am a little, okay a lot, behind on posting these pictures to our blog. I have been so busy I have been neglecting to keep this site updated!

On Mother's Day we celebrated by going to Granite City for brunch so none of the moms would have to cook that day. We waited for over an hour to be seated for brunch, so we were all STARVING by the time we finally got to eat. I will say however, the wait was well worth it. I ate at least 2 1/2 cinnamon rolls in addition to my brunch! Yummy!

If only Kent and Nedra and Jason could have been with us we would have been complete!

Happy 86th Birthday Grandpa!

Today we celebrated Grandpa's 86th Birthday! It was a GREAT day with much to celebrate. He was released from the New Mark skilled nursing facility this morning after a two month stay in the hospital and nursing home.

I am impressed at how much better he is doing in just a short week. Last Sunday mom picked him up and he spent the afternoon with us at their house - he was out of breath from just a short walk from the living room to the kitchen.

This afternoon he was really getting around much better with his walker and did not get winded as easy. He will be staying at mom and dad's until he is well enough to go home and stay by himself. Hopefully that will be sooner than later. I know he is anxious to get back home!

Happy Easter!

Yesterday was Easter and we celebrated the day with family (the only few missing were Jason, Grandpa and the Seckels)! How blessed we are to have everyone else here - even Seth and Abbey!

Mike and I joined the rest of the Jenks / Koeneke clan for church, then we had Easter dinner at our house. As always, we had more food than we could possibly eat. And for desserts... even though only two people were suppossed to bring dessert... we ended up with 9, yes 9, different things! We LOVE dessert in this family!

After dinner Ummie Mike hid Easter Eggs inside because it was too chilly to hide them outside. It didn't make one bit of difference to the kids where the eggs were... they had a great time searching! And they each came away with a large bag of candy! Gussie was interested in the eggs too!

Hootman's In Town...

These pictures are from several weeks ago, but I wanted to add them to our blog to share with everyone. Uncle Steve... aka Hootman... was in town for the Heart of America Optometric Conference. We hadn't seen him since our wedding, so Mom, Dad, Uncle Steve, Mike and I went to dinner at Savoy Grill then to McFadden's in the Power and Light district for a few drinks. It was great to see him! I honestly do not think that my Dad or Uncle Steve have changed... they look the same as they did when I was five!

Happy 45th Anniversary Kent and Nedra!

Kent, Nedra and little Gracie came in town Monday to visit for the week. We were all excited to see Grammy and Poppa... it had been since the beginning of December!

On Tuesday evening we had dinner at our house to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary. Kelly prepared the meal of filet mignon, giant prawns the size of mini lobsters and risotto with a mushroom cream sauce (I love when she plans the menu). She is an AWESOME cook!

After dinner mom and dad helped entertain the kiddos, with the help of cartoon network, so we could visit with Kent and Nedra.

Today, Mike and I took the day off of work so we could spend some additional time with his parents. We did quite a bit of shopping and eating! We tried out Grinders, which was featured on Food Networks show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. It was an eclectic "hole in the wall" that provided much to talk about. The walls were covered with artwork (that's what they called it anyway) and Emma and I sat in airplane seats while Mike and Kelly sat in the seat of a car to eat our lunch! It was definitely a unique establishment with good food.
