Slayton Update

Slayton underwent heart surgery this morning and although he will be in the PICU for the next couple of days, everything went remarkably well. He is such a little fighter!

Mike and I went to the hospital today to be with Chad and Jonalee and for what they have had to go through, they were holding up pretty well. I have such respect for their strengh and courage. I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult it would be to let your son go into surgery and then to visit him while he lies sleeping in PICU with all of the tubes, the monitors and the ventilator hooked up to him. They are an inspiration to all of us.

Continue to pray for Slayton's recovery and healing... the next couple of days are still a critical time for this little guy and continue to pray for Chad and Jonalee.

BTW on the right is a link directly to their blog where they are providing daily updates on Slayton's progress.

Babysitting Slayton

Last night Mike and I watched Slayton for a few hours. It is amazing just how fast he is growing and changing! He was such a good little boy for us! Watching him just made us so much more excited for the arrival of Sayer. We cannot wait for our little one to arrive!

Practicing Parenting...

Wednesday night Mike and I watched Slayton so Chad and Jonalee could have a date night! We hadn't seen him for a couple of weeks, so to see how much he has grown in such a short time is just amazing!

He is such a cute little boy! Mike and I loved holding him and watching his facial expressions as he slept and dreamed. He was so good... he slept almost the entire night! We joked that it's always that easy, right?

Nanoo holding Slayton... she got him to fall asleep!

We cannot wait until December to have a little one of our own to hold. Until then, Slayton is the closest thing that we have to our own. We love that little boy and will gladly watch him anytime Chad and Jonalee want us to! I can't wait for our little ones to grow up together - how fun!
