Sayer's Nursery - it's finally finished!

Finally Sayer's nursery is finished!

The artwork arrived late last week along with the glider. It is starting to fill with baby essentials as we have baby showers for this little boy.

I love the way it turned out. It is just what I wanted... a very cozy, warm, inviting room for this little boy to come home to.

This room has become my favorite place in the house to just go and sit and think and dream. Hopefully Sayer will love it as much as we do.

Sayer's Nursery

I wasn't going to post pictures of Sayer's nursery until is was finished, but I have had so many people asking about the crib and the stripes that I thought I would share pics of the nursery in its current state.

I am working on a couple of projects for the walls and am waiting on some vintage sports art that we ordered on-line. Slowly, but surely it is all coming together! My hope is to have it completed, or close to completed when Grammy and Papa come into town at the end of October... in plenty of time for the arrival of our little boy!

Painting the Nursery

I am blessed to have such an amazing family!

Most of you who know me know how difficult it is for me to hand tasks off to other people. I am a self starter and a perfectionist and I like to do things on my own. Painting the nursery was not something that I was able to do since I am not suppossed to be around the paint fumes, so I was reliant upon my family to do it for me!

On Sunday, Mimi, Aunt Karen and Aunt KiKi came over to help Mike paint Sayer's nursery. I love the way it turned out... the colors are just what I wanted! I am so thankful and appreciative of their help. Words cannot even begin to express. We will be able to let Sayer know that his nursery was painted with love! Thank you Mimi, Aunt Karen and Aunt KiKi for your help! We love you!

The professional painters came on Tuesday morning to look at the room and hopefully they will be able to finish up the stripes over the next couple of weeks. Once that is done we can start moving the rest of the furniture into the room. I can't wait!

Nursery Decor Coming Together...

I have been doing some shopping over the past couple of weeks and the nursery decor is starting to come together. We are making one of the guest rooms upstairs the nursery (sorry Kell you're losing your room). It has the biggest closet and a Jack and Jill bath which is why we chose this room... the closet will make a great playroom!

We have decided that the nursery colors are going to be burlap, cream, midnight blue and a lighter blue/gray. We are going to paint most of the walls burlap with a blue/gray accent wall (the wall by the closet in the picture above). Then we are going to paint a midnight blue and cream stripe (well the professional painters are going to do the stripes) around the perimeter. Hopefully it will turn out like I have it pictured in my head!

The crib bedding has multiple prints: stars, whales and gingham. I am not a huge fan of "themed" nurseries, so this nursery will not have a "theme". It really is just going to be a hodge podge of those things that I really like! Hence, the baskets with the stripes, ticking, whales and paisley prints.

So far my most favorite is the vintage Little Toot clock that I bought at the market a couple of years ago. It will go perfectly with what we have picked out thus far!

Nursery Furniture

Mom, Aunt Karen and I went to Nebraska Furniture Mart today to order the crib, bookcase and changing station for the nursery. Mike and I picked out the furniture several weeks ago, but we were holding off on ordering anything until we confirmed the sex of the baby.

Once we found out we were having a boy we decided to order the cream color finish to go with the existing furniture that is in the bedroom already. I have decided that the nursery colors are going to be navy blue, cream and taupe.

We found bedding yesterday at Pottery Barn Kids and were able to buy everything on clearance! I am such a bargain shopper... that just means that I can splurge on other areas of the nursery!

My parents surprised us by purchasing the crib for us! We are extremely thankful to MiMi and Poppy for the generous gift. They said that was what they really wanted to do for their first grandchild. Thanks mom and dad! We love you!

This is a picture of the crib, but in a different color. It is a conversion crib, so it will convert into a toddler bed, a daybed and eventually a double bed.
